I love an overwhelming majority of my professors and have never had one that I disliked. My favorite, however, is my freshman year advisor and favorite Religion professor, Dan Mathewson. Dan has a passion for his instruction material and committed to delivering it in the most digestible and comprehensible channels possible. Combined with a limitless array of personal anecdotes and an obsession with his home country of Canada, Dan never fails to keep class discussions lively and pointed while also fostering an environment of camaraderie and comfort.
Trust the process, and follow your gut! There is no better way to know if you will love a place until you visit and get a good feel for what it is you are committing to. Furthermore, the first year jitters are likely to be a stressful, confusing, and overwhelming time. I did not know anyone in my freshman class but, by the end of my first year, I had become close friends with at least a dozen students from seniors to fellow freshmen. The experience is awkward and weird for everyone at first, you are all finding your way in a new space. But, stick it out, be yourself, and you will undoubtedly find your place and your people.
I can sing the entirety of "Rudolph the Red-nose Reindeer" in Greek.
