Each summer for the past 4 years, I have served on mission trips with my church in the capital city of Honduras. I still speak to the kids I have watched grow up with the occasional Facetime call (but it’s very hard because I’m not fluent in Spanish!).
My favorite professor is Dr. Barbas Rhoden. I have had 2 Spanish classes with her, and she is my advisor for my Spanish major. Not only is she an involved professor, she also has a heart of gold. In her classes, I learn not only about the material but also about the world around me. She integrates community-based learning and community service into her class, which has helped me understand the world around me, not just the Wofford bubble.
As soon as I stepped foot on Wofford’s campus, I knew this was the place I wanted to call home. Wofford is large enough to provide endless resources for both social and academic growth while also being small enough to always see a familiar face in any room. Wofford isn’t just with you for 4 years. You’re a part of the Wofford family for life.
These next 4 years are super important but no doubt they will fly by. Do what makes you happy and don’t always worry about tomorrow. One day, you’ll be starting orientation and the next you’ll be walking across the stage at graduation. Don’t waste a moment!
